Exercise Physiology That Works With Complex Bodies

Accredited Exercise Physiology for chronic health conditions, neurological challenges, autoimmune conditions, and bodies that don’t respond to off-the-shelf programmes. Designed and delivered by Lachlan, around your goals and your capacity.

Not a Personal Trainer. An Accredited Exercise Physiologist.

There’s a real difference, and it matters. A personal trainer works with generally healthy bodies. An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health professional, trained to prescribe exercise as medicine for people living with chronic and complex conditions.

That means we can work with the bodies a regular trainer can’t touch: neurological conditions, chronic illness, autoimmune flare-ups, cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, post-surgical recovery, and the day-to-day reality of living in a body that doesn’t always cooperate.

Lachlan knows that territory from the inside. At 7’1″, Crohn’s and arthritis stripped him down to 55kg. He rebuilt from there to where he is now, 130kg and healed. This isn’t theory for him.

Who This Is For

This service is built for people who need more than a gym membership and a generic plan. You might be living with:

  • A neurological condition (MS, Parkinson’s, stroke recovery, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, and similar)
  • A chronic illness or autoimmune condition
  • A cardiovascular, respiratory or metabolic condition
  • Chronic pain or fatigue
  • Recovery from surgery or injury
  • An NDIS plan with Capacity Building funding and a goal to build strength, function and independence

If a standard programme has failed you before, that’s usually because it was never built for your body. This one is.

What to Expect

  1. Health history and condition review. We start by understanding your full picture: your condition, your history, your goals, and what your body can actually handle right now.
  2. A programme tailored to you. You get a plan built around your goals, your condition and your capacity, delivered through a training app you can use from anywhere.
  3. Form-check videos, reviewed by Lachlan. You film your exercises, Lachlan reviews them personally and sends back feedback, so you’re never guessing whether you’re doing it right.
  4. Direct access via WhatsApp. Questions, wins, bad days, adjustments. You can reach Lachlan directly, with check-ins as needed rather than on a rigid schedule.
  5. Optional in-person intensives. When it helps, we can work together in person to nail technique and build confidence.

One Practitioner. Who Actually Knows You.

Every programme here is designed and delivered by Lachlan Winter, Abilitive’s founder and the company’s Accredited Exercise Physiologist. You’re not handed between strangers or assigned to whoever’s free. You work directly with the person who built the service, and who has lived the comeback he’s helping you make.

Funding Through the NDIS

Exercise Physiology is generally claimable under Capacity Building for eligible NDIS participants. If you’re not sure whether your plan covers it, get in touch and we’ll help you work it out.

Common Questions

An AEP is a university-qualified allied health professional who uses exercise to manage and improve chronic and complex health conditions. It’s clinical, evidence-based, and very different from general personal training.

Yes. The core service is delivered remotely through a training app, with form-check feedback and direct WhatsApp access, so you can work with Lachlan from anywhere. In-person intensives are an optional extra.

For eligible NDIS participants, exercise physiology generally sits under Capacity Building. If you’re unsure what your plan covers, reach out and we’ll help you sort it.

Get in touch for an initial consult. We’ll review your health history and goals, then build your programme from there.
