Staff Onboarding & Training Checklists

Document Purpose: Internal reference for new staff onboarding and mandatory training requirements at Abilitive Pty Ltd.


NEW STAFF ONBOARDING CHECKLIST

Before First Shift

  • [ ] Complete employment contract and tax declaration forms
  • [ ] Provide proof of identity (100 points ID)
  • [ ] Submit current NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance
  • [ ] Submit Working With Children Check (WWCC) if applicable
  • [ ] Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) – current
  • [ ] Provide CPR Certificate – current (renewed annually)
  • [ ] Submit National Police Check (if no NDIS Screening)
  • [ ] Provide driver’s licence copy (if transporting participants)
  • [ ] Submit car insurance certificate (if using personal vehicle)
  • [ ] Complete NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Quality, Safety & You)
  • [ ] Read and sign Code of Conduct acknowledgement
  • [ ] Read and sign Privacy & Confidentiality agreement
  • [ ] Set up CareMaster staff account and complete profile
  • [ ] Provide bank account details for payroll
  • [ ] Submit superannuation fund nomination form

First Week

  • [ ] Complete workplace orientation with Coordinator
  • [ ] Review participant profiles and support plans
  • [ ] Complete buddy shift with experienced staff member
  • [ ] Review incident reporting procedures
  • [ ] Review emergency procedures
  • [ ] Complete manual handling training (if applicable)
  • [ ] Review medication administration protocols (if applicable)
  • [ ] Set up work email and communication channels
  • [ ] Review rostering system and shift procedures
  • [ ] Meet with Coordinator to discuss questions/concerns

First Month

  • [ ] Complete all mandatory e-learning modules
  • [ ] Attend team meeting
  • [ ] Complete 30-day performance check-in
  • [ ] Review feedback from participants/families
  • [ ] Identify training development opportunities

Support Worker (Level 1-2)

  • All mandatory training modules
  • Participant-specific training as required
  • Community access support skills

Senior Support Worker (Level 3)

  • All Level 1-2 requirements plus:
  • Mentoring and supervision skills
  • Advanced medication administration
  • Complex support needs training

Coordinator

  • All staff requirements plus:
  • Leadership and team management
  • Rostering and scheduling systems
  • Incident investigation procedures
  • NDIS Practice Standards requirements
  • Plan management and reporting
